What inspired you to read the book?
Although, I have always had great respect and admiration as our once President of the US, I knew very little of Barack Obama’s life. This book gave me the opportunity to see him as a man, a man with the same struggles and adversities that we all have to learn to overcome during our life.
What you learned from reading the book?
The importance of being a true, honest, and a kind person. Also, to understand that the people who come before us, our fathers, help clear our way so that our life paths are easier. The book taught me that as human beings, we all fall eventually into a pit, at that point we must diverge from the path and make our own.
How the book will influence your life and prepare for success upon release? Obama’s incredible struggles through life is an inspiration for me to overcome adversities. During his life and through many failures, he seemed undaunted by his circumstances, certain that persistence would eventually pay off. As he was once told, “if you make the wrong choice, then you learn from your mistakes and grow.”
