One Book At A Time

Books are a common part of daily lives that we often oversee the power we hold in our hands. A book can change our thoughts, feelings and views. It has the power to transport us to places beyond our imagination. A book allows us to hear the voice of a person who may have lived one-hundred years ago, as if sitting right in front of you. For people in jail, a book shows a life beyond the walls of confinement, gives guidance and has the ability to influence people’s lives. This fundraiser was established to provide a book to at least 500 justice-impacted individuals in jails or prisons. Everyone who receives a book will be asked to become a member of an online community, share their story, and create a book report to be published on the website for the world to see. Whenigettoprison.org is a website created from inside a jail, an online sanctuary where your past does not define who you are as a person, and that current conditions do not determine your ability to succeed. Through the support of sponsors, like you, we hope to reach a goal of at least $10,000 to provide books and help change peoples lives. In jail there are many people who lack guidance and support to be successful, but through this organization, together we can build a community where we can provide tools and resources to be successful. In jail there are few choices, but everyone has the ability to choose how to spend their time. This is why by donating a book and inspiring people to read, we can take the first step in creating hope and opening a door into imagination that can help change thoughts and attitudes, and motivate individuals to live a values-based goal-oriented life.
